Let’s Take a Look at Pinworm Pictures

To start off with our pictures of pinworms, you’ll see a micrograph featuring a pinworm’s head. This pinworm photo is courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The first of our pinworm pictures shows the head of the pinworm. It was taken by the CDC and courtesy of Wikimedia commons.

Also courtesy of the CDC, is a photo showing what pinworm eggs look under a microscope. Call me a sicko, but this next pictures seems to have an almost artistic feel to it, don’t you think? Don’t worry, you won’t find it hanging up in any of the rooms of my house as wall art. But it’s still cool, nonetheless.

This next pinworm photo is a photograph of a human pinworm taken by Erich Gasboy on July 18, 2004. You have to look really close, but I promise its there. In fact, you’ll see another one right next to it if you look even closer. Also notice the measurements below, which shows exactly how small these worms are.

Next is an artist’s rendition, which is also courtesy of the CDC, that shows what the male and female pinworms look like. As you can see, the major difference between the two is size. Well, I’m sure there’s one other difference too, if you know what I mean.

Finally, take a look below at a chart by the CDC, which shows the life cycle of pinworms. As you can see, the eggs are ingested by humans (usually children), and hatch within the intestines. As they grow to adults, they will make way for the anus opening and lay their eggs, which is what causes the itching.
